I need Architecture career advice. Should I talk to an Architect?

NSG.

Where can I get some advice from people in the field? I would like to get some career advice. But I feel there is really nowhere to turn?

Would RIBA / the ARB help? I think talking in person is more useful.

Advice here ranges from sage to nonsensical, but at least presents a wide range, and occassionally some amusement.

You should talk to five architects, or ten, not just one.  As Miles notes, there's a wide range of opinions on here, and out there, too.  Better to actually interact with a few practitioners in person, to get a range of views in the context of an actual conversation.  That's usually the better mode of communication if you have the opportunity.
