Cetainly young....by all standards....unless your just finishing undergraduate school....most we being old farts...stumbling around wanting to design something GRAND!

Do any of you fine ladies and gents who work for RM know if he is going to have another book signing this fall? He's coming out with another book in November, and I'd like the chance to see him again.
When I was in my second year of architecture school I had to do an addition to RM's Shamberg house
While I was working in the studio an upper design professor walked up behind me at my drafting table and said, "I spent a really long time designing that damn stair" and just walked away! I was like WOW!!!...I had one of the RM books in front of me and had earlier noticed that it has the names of the people that worked on the specific projects...Low and behold I found my professors name in there(Jon Michael Schwarting)...along with another professor But I can't remember him name off the top of my head.
-Later on in design 4(Housing) I had Schwarting as a professor. He would tell us jokes about how rounded windows didnt work in some of RM designs...the glass on the saltzman house would pop out and break all the time. And other randon shtuff, but basically kinda badmouthing him....I think they had some Bad blood b/c of a possible partner position or something that schwarting was promised and never got...(those are the rumors that fly around school - nothing I ever herd schwarting say)
Schwarting...excellent professor for just about anything...more so anything Urban(planning, smart growth, parking, blah, blah, blah) Schwarting
Thanks WeAREtheSTONES for your story! I'm always curious about the things that go wrong when it comes to architecture, especially when it involves the celebrities.
I had no idea there were such problems with the Saltzman House...I guess what looks good on paper doesn't always translate well to real life.
