I'm wondering if any sciarc students might have some insights on the design process of Hernan Diaz Alonso's organic form. There were more similar styled projects from sciarc student in the early 2010s but less and less in recent years.
They don't look parametric to me, but rather very much sculpted. I don't even know if Maya is this powerful. I'm guessing mostly or all done in ZBrush. Maybe detailed with some attractors or panelings done in Grasshopper for windows. I'm also curious if Houdini is used instead of ZBrush because the curves layout looks like could be spawned by physical simulations.
Any insights? Do you think it's generated by code or more sculpted by hand? Will be appreciated for any helps
When you're looking at architecture, try to visualize the buildings as a whole, you know. Try to see them in their natural state, in their totalitarianism, so to speak.
Probably no longer relevant since it's from over a decade ago, but I had him for studio at Pratt in '08 and everything we designed was scripted in Maya.

True, his work doesn’t look very relevant ;-)
