Portfolios

BulgarBlogger

Any portfolios can only be reviewed for compositional and technical soundness. You can’t imbue talent. You either have it or you don’t. Many people don’t want to hear they don’t have talent, so they believe that if they dress up their portfolio, it would somehow make up for their lack of talent. Archinect should create an anonymous ranking of members’ perception of one’s talent based on work presented. Portfolios with low talent rankings should give the submitter an idea as to how successful they will be with their submission in the real world even with good composition.

think of it as an anonymous restaurant review. Food can look good on pictures, but taste bad...

The fact that you correlate talent with one's ability to succeed in the real world says a lot about you. I would love to see a portfolio of yours? maybe you could share it and we can review it ? or no is that too low for you ? Not everyone is a talented designer, and the people who willingly put themselves out there and upload their portfolios for review on this forum are doing so for a purpose, to further improve and seek other people's opinions and learn from them. No one is trying to hide their "lack of talent" by dressing up their portfolio.
