Look at Armstrong for ceiling systems that you could apply wood or other finishes. They will use less plenum space. However, this can just be framed out with metal stud as well. We usually show an armstrong product so we don't have to tell the contractor stud sizing based on different ceiling spans, and then allow for the substitution in construction.
