Coop Himmelb(l)au , Zaha Hadid building cost for Conference Centers

pietropec

Hello Forum people,

I was looking for some precise and reliable information about  building budget for conference center like the International Conference Center in Dalian  by Coop Himmelb(l)au or the Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku by Hadid.

( for the latest I found 250 million US $ ) but in general I was wondering if more accurate source can be found especially for more unconventional Architecture.

As reference and comparison I found that the new conference center in Rome by Fuksas was report to be completed within 250 million euro but a lot of press speculated that the real cost was much higher.

LMN's Vancouver multi award Center was at 880 million $

while the 1997 expansion of SOM's Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center was of around 670 million US $

Looking at that pic of workers on ZHA's curvy roof with zero lifelines, do you factor in the cost of lost human lives in your research?

I would budget $2500-4000/ sf for something like that in the United States. Really not that bad for a conference center as the ceilings are tall and there are large, open spaces without lots of finishes.

HdM's De Young Museum in SF was said to be $2000/ sf, that was like 15 years ago.
