I'm working on a project related to the taxonomy of houses and I'm wondering what the best references are as to single-family house types primarily in the past 50 years in the United States.
I'm familiar with a few good references like McAlester's excellent Field Guide to American Houses. Thanks for any suggestions.
I will be back in a week, but I have two books that I can't remember the authors or names; one is a compilation of architectural residential styles in the US up to 1945 and the other is about the elements of vernacular houses in the 1800's. bug me if i forget please.

Tom Hubka, Houses without Names: Architectural Nomenclature and the Classification of America’s Common Houses.
He's an authority.
