Help with starting working in architecture

Beshoy Adel

I graduated from architectural engineering school in 2016 and never worked a day in architecture (was working in graphic design). Now I want to return to architecture but I don't have a portfolio, I don't even know if there are transferable skills that I can get from graphic design to architecture and I have no clue what steps I should take to get a job as an architectural engineer. I don't know how to develop a portfolio without working in the field... I can create personal projects but I don't know where to get design briefs from. I also don't know what should I specialize in (architectural design, visualization, interior design, construction management, etc.)

Any help would be appreciated!

I lost all my database, plus those school projects were not that great anyway.

Sorry but if you have no clue how to make a portfolio of works, or how to invent projects from scratch or look for competitions even after graduation, and you don't even know what specialisation to go for, I'd advice to stay wherever you are being paid now, doing whatever it is you're doing.

Get an internship stint from a friend of a friend. Find good connections who can get you in without folio or background.  The only risk is that you may not get paid a dime.

Only 2 years removes from school and you’re already clueless about the field you studied? Perhaps it’s best to stay where you are. I think there is something else hidden here.
