Mar 1, 17 7:44 am ·

The GPA system in my school is different. It is 70.4 / 100 ( we follow percentage system) which roughly translates to 2.75 / 4.0 by American standards. But there is an official letter of clarification of grading system I submitted with my transcripts. We have absolute grading. Not relative.
Mar 1, 17 7:48 am ·

underwood_1234
I have passed from University of Mumbai and my percentage is 76% and while applying i put in GPA of 3 (as shown by WES website), i didn't provide a letter of clarification..Hope it works out well now...Anyway..Congrats again!
Mar 1, 17 8:03 am ·

I am a graduate of CEPT University and the university provides for a letter of clarification and a detailed explanation of the grading system we have at CEPT. A lot of things we do at CEPT aren't included in the GPA (as per the system when I was a student. It has changed now) but have credits. It is a bit complicated. Additionally, the university also certified my level of performance etc. Indian students have issues when it comes to GPA because percentage system invariably leads to low GPAs despite having "A distinction" as per our norms. Maybe you should ask your school to give such a letter if you are considering other schools or want to re-apply.

Hey, congrats on Yale! Any idea as to when will MIT or GSD release their results?
Has anyone heard from Upenn yet? I live on the west coast and I found out that their open house is on March 27th which is very soon when it comes to booking flights. Perhaps that means bad news for me but I thought I would ask if anyone else has heard yet for the M Arch 1 program.
Mar 1, 17 2:23 pm ·

I believe that Upenn will publish their results March 14th at noon for everyone on their website. Not sure about any early contacts though...
Apparently (as seen on grad cafe) someone got a 25k scholarship for m.arch in Cornell beginning on summer. Does anyone know if the m.arch I also begins in the summer? or did they give more $ to some than to others for merit based scholarship for m.arch II? I've been wondering...

Mar 2, 17 11:11 am ·

zs_47
Well, got a rejection from GSD, and haven't heard anything back from Cornell so that's a no based on past years' experience. I still firmly believe that my portfolio is very strong (and that's actually what Pratt's dean told me on the national portfolio day), maybe it's just my projects are too unrealistic for Harvard or Cornell as they are now more focused on actual "building" architecture? If my last top schools still reject me than I've probably got some other problems... Anyway, it's still just the start of the marathon race to become a truly elite architect.
Received a call from Harvard - accepted M.Arch 2 on a Dean's Scholarship - that with their financial grant should cover tuition.
I am waiting on Princeton and MIT - which I would prefer both over Harvard as Harvard is a massive program and just seems to be a door into SOM - I am concerned about the lack of individualism at the school.

20K, which I think is just need-based and determined from the fafsa. Think there are 2 grant types from FAFSA, I got one of them! Sounds like you got a merit scholarship!! Congrats!

I'm not American, so I am not eligible for the fafsa thing. Mine was a dean scholarship, which I beleive is based on Merit.

Mar 2, 17 9:57 pm ·

I think they will publish all results March 14th at noon. It's just that based on gradcafe i saw some early emails last year at March 6, I believe that UPenn is relatively easy to get in as they recruit a lot each year, but the financial aid will suffer as a result...
Mar 2, 17 10:39 pm ·

Not to mention cost of living and cost of program. At the open house they said average student rent is $500. Coming from San Francisco that is a very tempting number. But I continue to hold my breath for GSAPP!

just checked gradcafe and saw last year's GSD acceptance, most people got accepted at around March 4-5, then there's someone being accepted in March 7 WITH MAX FUNDING, maybe if they give you lots of $$$ you gonna hear from them later, hope this is the case. Anyway good luck everyone!
zs_47, All of them who got maximum funding are advanced placement programs. And there are no ap acceptance record after that... anyway, guess just gotta wait
I'm AP myself.... but you're right we just gotta wait. Lol my blind confidence in my portfolio is shaky right now :S
I would not assume because you haven't heard it means it is a no! Who knows how they organize sending out the notifications, I think trying to figure it out is only going to make you crazy. They could still be going through a group of applications, trying to figure out scholarships, etc.
zs_47 lol same here. ap as well, super confident until rejected by yale haha...
yea maybe i should unfollow this thread, haha. But a no would hurt..
true dat. just curious, did you apply for the ap at the start or they changed it for you? I applied only march 1 but they changed it to ap last week. I thought it was a good sign until i found out someone on gradcafe experience the same thing and got rej D:
i applied with AP. Only for GSD though since other schools don't seem to have ap option when applying.
Sure am curious to see your folio.
can you see the status change on your app page? or they just told you the result on the phone but didn't update the website? thanks!
Congrats! Any updates on the app page?
App page doesn't show any update
I think you just got all of us here extremely nervous haha
Congratulations!
But yes, REALLY nervous now !!!!
Thanks for the congratulations, I was told on the phone that letters would go out this afternoon, but I am not sure what exactly they meant by that and if it is just for people on the scholarship or all admissions. I know last year Harvard sent out an email to check on a Saturday, so maybe they will do the same and do it this Saturday.
That's exciting, this afternoon! thanks for the tip (:
Not to bug you, but did you receive a letter or a status update on your app page from GSD?
I have not had any update I just checked
Okay, thanks :)
GSD website is now updated, received a rejection!
Not sure if I want to check mine....
Waitlisted for GSD. Wondering what the chances are :/
I just got an email from MIT for acceptance into the SMARCHS program but am waiting on the funding - official letters they said will go out soon.
You are on a roll! Congrats!! :)
Yes thanks exciting, my final decision will be 100% financial, who ever offers the most money. Hopefully the wait ends soon for everyone, the anxiety did give me some sleepless nights.
Does anyone know when MIT will release M.Arch decisions? Especially now that they're sending out SMARCHS
Super curious myself - last year according to grad cafe people were notified by phone, but on there website it says decisions cannot be given over the phone?

i believe they have updated the harvard status on the website!
I got into Georgia Tech!
Did anyone here back from Berkeley?
negative
Got into Ohio State w/ $$ :)
In at Harvard MAUD with 20K, still can't beleive it!
In GSD M.arch I. What a relief!
Congrats! Did they call you or email you?
congrats! im too scared to check hahaha
Just an email, seems like they only called people with scholarships.
I got an scholarship and they emailed me!
Thanks and good luck everyone!
Hi! I got in for MLA, no phone call, just email. I got a Tier 1 grant. Did any of you get Tier 2? Do you know what the max might be for that?
Congrats! I don't know what is Tier 1 and 2, i got 20k. How much have you got?
20K, which I think is just need-based and determined from the fafsa. Think there are 2 grant types from FAFSA, I got one of them! Sounds like you got a merit scholarship!! Congrats!
I'm not American, so I am not eligible for the fafsa thing. Mine was a dean scholarship, which I beleive is based on Merit.
In GSD MarchII..still can't believe it
Congratulations!
Thank you!:)
..
Has anyone heard from UPenn yet? (early notification letters?)
still waiting too. not sure how to gage my odds there. does anyone have any idea about their acceptance rate / stats?
I think they will publish all results March 14th at noon. It's just that based on gradcafe i saw some early emails last year at March 6, I believe that UPenn is relatively easy to get in as they recruit a lot each year, but the financial aid will suffer as a result...
Not yet, I have heard UPenn is slightly easier than most of the other schools! My portfolio definitely suffered when I tried to condense it to the shorter length though so who knows!
I got an early acceptance letter to UPENN, hopefully that means some ok money? any one else hear back ? i know they send aid out on the 12th or 14th.
Hi guys!
Does anyone know what kind of financial aid packages the AD S. MARCHS offers at MIT?
I got in but am waiting on the financial aid part and am wondering if it is even possible...
Thank You!
GSAPP MSAAD in, no word about $
In at GSAPP Urban Design. No word about $
waitlisted by Cornell. Received an email asked me if I want to stay on the waitlist.
I received a call yesterday from an Associate Dean and UCLA commending me on my dossier and asking if I was coming to the open house, is that normal? I mean does that mean I'm get aid?
lol in this case it's most probably that he wants you. :) good luck!
He can have me for the right price!
thanks, you too@
He called me too. What a nice gesture!
hey cool! did you ask him any questions?
In Penn March I. Just received email!! Fuck yes!
Me too!!! Congrats!
Congrats!!
Congratz! Me too! Finally somebody said yes! PHEWWW !!! I also like UPenn because of its modern design methodologies and philosophy, And the free concerts of Curtis at Philly, which are like free cake and candies for a pianist like me :)) Maybe this is what's meant to be for me!
Not to mention cost of living and cost of program. At the open house they said average student rent is $500. Coming from San Francisco that is a very tempting number. But I continue to hold my breath for GSAPP!
Me too!! Wooooo
In GSAPP MSAAD!!! Hell yeah!!
Did anyone get accepted to Michigan despite having relatively low GPA and/or GRE score?
I got accepted with an incredibly low GRE but I had really good grades
Anyone have any idea when UVA might come out? Congrats to all the recent acceptances!! (Also just got Penn email!)
Anyone hear anything from Yale March.II about financial aid?
No. I am waiting for Yale M.Arch II for financial aid too.
Got notification, by FedEx, they are sending a package. I am hoping it is the official acceptance letter and financial aid documents. If it is, then I am scheduled to receive it on 6th.
Yes I got a notification too. Thanks !
When/Where did you guys get a notification? M.Arch I here and I heard nothing after getting in yet...
I got a call from FedEx customs clearance. I am an international student. All they said is that a package for me from New Haven is stuck at the customs clearance and if I know anything about it. Hopefully, it reaches me soon. I have to send some verification documents to FedEx.
Hi guys my package reached. It only has the acceptance letter and the prospecta book. I had emailed them wednesday asking about financial aid infor so they said in approximately a week. So perhaps sometime in the coming week we should all hear about aid and other details!
Those who got into U Mich - did your status update on the ApplyWeb and/or the Wolverine Access?
nothing updated on ApplyWeb for me, but I can click on "view decision" on Wolverine Accesss
Just heard from Wash U! (got into Michigan and UPenn so far... waiting on Cornell!)
Ahhh, I thought I was the only one who hasn't heard from Cornell. I have heard they are already sending out decisions for waitlisted candidates as well. I hate waiting!
me too i still haven't heard back from Cornell. And from past years' gradcafe I assume we are rejected, if we haven't had any email early in March for either admission or waitlist.
Ahhh.. That's depressing. But shouldn't they send us some sort of rejection mail? Even the status hasn't changed on the ApplyWeb site. So, I am still hoping! :-) let's stay positive! I am halfway across the world. I was unable to call them. I did shoot them an e-mail yesterday, but no response. I f you are in US, could you please call them up and let us know?
Did University of Washington mention when their open house is?
i believe they will send the rejection mail around March 10, I'm international also. But of course anything is still possible. Maybe they'll admit us hehe.
JCano - Did you meanWash U? If so, it will be April 6 - 8
Would anyone happen to know the amount of financial aid Yale usually offers to international students for M.Arch 2?
University of Washington letters are out.
WashU or UW Seattle?
Seattle
The UW Seattle M Arch program is one that
I am less familiar with. Can anyone tell me about the faculty and/or their experience as a student there?
I didn't get anything yet. Hopefully I'll hear back tomorrow or Monday. Best of luck
The faculty is pretty diverse and there are a wide variety of options you can dive deeper into. IMO all around strong program to be involved in especially with Seattle growing at the rate it is.
Anyone else waiting to hear from Cornell and Penn M.Arch 1?
Waiting for Cornell. I am so anxious right now.
Did you get in anywhere else? I got into YSoA and tbh I kinda half assed Cornell and Penn applications bc my first choice was GSD (rejected)
Also waiting on Cornell.... Is it crazy to think we might still get in?
Im still waiting for cornell too. Hope we get in. Do you think they accepted everyone already and we have been rejected?
That's what I am afraid of, but I don't know how they do it.
@M_ARCHhopeful I am in at YSOA.
I was rejected via email last night :(
I am curious how Penn measures up to Cornell. Any insights on Penn's program and faculty would be very helpful!
