Opportunity came up and I'm heading to Japan(Tokyo) for two weeks in July. I've only spent 24 hours on a layover in Tokyo previously, so have only seen a very very small potion of Shinjuku so far.
Will have open weekends for travel, any must see destinations, significant architectural works to see, etc? Kyoto? Osaka? Nagano? Nagoya?

Some good suggestions/discussion in previous threads (1, 2, 3, 4). Also the Tokyo tour by Ludwig here.
So far my favorite place I've found in Kyoto would be the Kyoto international Conference Centre.

Thank you so much for fantastic advice!
Did you already come and go? How was the trip?
