Whitey Bulger

file

OK, so this guy - who supposedly was #2 on the FBI's most wanted list, right behind Osama bin Laden - hid out, more or less in plain sight, in the US for more than 16 years.

I wonder how long it will be before the Pakistanis charge that Bulger must have been receiving help and support from high up in the US intelligence agencies.

I have been following this story, and well it is just a crazy story. The FBI is chasing around some guy who is in his 80's cause he was a  Beantown Gangsta..of the Irish Clan.  He is the Number Two Guy on their list....Well what the heck happened to all those Drug Cartel Bad Boys? Is the FBI just to scarred to go after someone who can out run them or shot back. Bugler would have most likely had to find the right eyeglasses before he could see you to shot you.  No disrespect, but  the FBI has slipped in my eyes, humm I wonder do they still drive Fords?  Most likely not, they are probably tooling around  in cars made in another country.

And, is it just me, or does this guy's name sound like a kind of boutique underwear?

I was thinking the same thing file.  People are no longer smart enough to figure things out. #2 on the most wanted list evades the FBI by living in the same apt for 15 years in a major city????  There should be a push to find out who on the inside was still helping this guy.

It's actually very easy to do that, jbush.

Let me tell you a story about my own experiences:

About 8 years ago, I was driving my brother's extra car around for a few months in college because I needed a car for work but did not have one of my own. Well, after a few months of driving, the suspension system desperately needed to be fixed.

I drove it to an national chain of automobile stores and took out a line of credit because I did not have $850 dollars to pay it. The car was in the system under my brother's name and all of his details were in there. Well, when the guy typed in my social security number for the car, he made a single typo. My brothers and my social security number are off by one single digit (the last digit).

Well, this automotive company shares their database with a big database company— the very same database company that everyone from the government to most automated HR systems to all of the credit agencies use.

It was that day that I stopped being alive and that my entire life was merged with my brothers.

I no longer have a verifiable identity.

That means I can no longer rent an apartment from most real estate companies. I no longer have any credit history. My work experience is not mine. And all of my credit oopsies now belong to my brother.

So, I cannot get a job if a company uses a HR system. I cannot get a credit card. I can't even pull up my own student loan information from my lending institutions. And even my degree or any proof of it doesn't show up either. And more importantly, I cannot even move unless I can find a no questions asked employer and landlord!

On top of that, my background check information shows me living at 5 concurrent addresses (two in Wyoming, one in New Mexico and 2 in Florida). The one New Mexico address is interesting because I have never even lived or been to that place.

What is mildly amusing is that my student loan lending bank reports my loan information to the credit bureaus... however, I have a bank account with the same bank to an address registered in Santa Fe which shows up no where. So, how is it that I can have two accounts (loan and checking) at a bank that's suppose to report that information but only one address is reported while that address is not even correct?

On top of that, my father at the time of my birth was a federal agent (with the forest service no less) and all my documents from around that time are conveniently sealed due to his uhhh very serious work involving some asshole sheep.

So, at this point, I've become quite accustomed to living "off paper." I cash my checks at check cashing stores. I can only pay cash for things. I have to buy prepaid credit cards to do anything with the internet. If I could afford to live some place new, I can only rent direct from an owner who doesn't do background checks. If I want a cellphone, I either have to do it prepaid or through someone else. I use a lot of "disposable phones [burners]" now that my iPhone is busted. I can't even buy a new one of those!

So, can you go years without making a trail? Yes. But it is expensive. And I'm not even doing this because I am a criminal but because I no longer have an identity. But for people who are illegal immigrants or those wanted by the police, there exists a whole network for laying low.

The only thing that sucks are the fees— $8 for a prepaid credit card, $5 something to activate a prepaid cellphone card, $6 to cash a check, $5 to send a money order and about $3 to send a fax because I can't even get a landline.

That is very strange JJR.  Careful they don't try to deport you.  Still, we are talking about #2 on the FBI most wanted list who was also an FBI informer.  Would you care to wager that we end up with a couple of federal employees going to trial as a result of Whitey Bulger revealing who helped him the past 16 years?

I could be wrong.  I remember reading some years ago that one of the head mafiosos in Italy was found living in a very modest place right in the heart of the city.
