How to study for ARE 4.0 (Specifically Structural Systems)

CerebralArms

I am trying to take the ARE 4.0.
Currently, I will be taking the test for New York so therefore I can take the test before my IDP is complete. I thought I would be begin working on it as soon as possible.
I have some hand me down books from the ARE 3.0, but I can't seem to find too many things on the 4.0.
I know that the NCARB website contains guidelines and example problems, but it doesn't seem like that would be enough for me.

What resources outside the NCARB website do you suggest I look into?
Do you know of study guides that you liked, references, websites, etc.?
What has your experience with this test been?

Any other suggestions, comments, things to think about would be much
appreciated.

My goal is to simultaneously finish my IDP and Exams within the next three years. Wish me luck.

the best,
CerebralArms

This posting is a bit old but you should check out the Center of Archecture near NYU. They have great audios and pre-record videos that you can sit through.

You only need Kaplan. It's not perfect or complete by any means, but you don't need to have perfect or complete knowledge to pass the ARE.

Don't over study. 2 weeks prep for each exam is plenty (even for Structural systems). Aim to gain a good understanding of the material. No need to memorize anything.

Remember it's a minimum standard. You only need to pass it, not ace it.

Good luck.

Does anyone know where if any I can buy used Kaplan ARE 4.0 Complete Library books. I don't see a point in buying a new set for $1300.
