This is a stair space that was designed for my first ground up hillside house project. There are no masterful structural or cantalivering aspects to it but all the vertical circulation was pushed to one side of the house and stairs created within this circulation space. The last set of stairs to the roof deck were left open to let partial visual connection and light travel through. (1991, Silver Lake, CA)
This is actually my partner's design, not mine, but I'm posting it because it's the most drop-dead-sexy thing we've done recently that I have pictures of.
Donna I want to add that bathroom to the naked thread... it would take me at least 4 days to get ready for work if I had that space. It is so visually and sensually appealing.
Great works archinect.
the last great work (or first great work): community college, Montserrat
building cluster eastern elevations
crossing of the vertical and horizontal circulation north east elevation... "the building block"
hopefully I'll have a new project to show soon... I have a troublesome one under design development
