I was glancing at books earlier and I couldn't help but look at some literature on the numerous materials being invented every day; some functional, some beautiful, others capably pointless. In most cases however, I wonder if flashy materials are overriding the design process, stimulating and distracting us from what is "sensible". Are our buildings labeled "outdated" as new materials stand as a signpost for a new era in technology and excess? Any examples would be admired from any standpoint.
