Hi all. I'm going to be headed to new York city for about a week in September, and I figured I should tap into the collective conscious of archinect to ask what sights I should be seeing. So far, my list contains the high line, the new Cooper union building, and the west side frank gehry building. Anything I'm missing? Is the ps1 young architects thing still going on?
The Guggenheim museum bathroom,Gantry Plaza State Park in Long Island City (for a Manhattan view you can't see anywhere in Manhattan),Williamsburg (I find hipsters interesting),Battery Park and get some falafel from the street vendors.
To many "art fans," going to a museum [specifically that museum] to see a bathroom would be completely asinine.
I, however, went because I had applied to work at the office of the Guggenheim Foundation. Didn't even hear a peep back. So, I was really there to snoop around-- I visited like all 5 of the Guggenheim Foundation's properties.
I especially wanted to see that toilet-- for an architect that was so nauseatingly about quality of life and detail, his ideas about restrooms border on war crimes.
Especially when Mr. Detail lacked the oversight of detailing out a bathroom and just jammed it in a plan.
Unfortunately, the last Warm Up party at P.S. 1 was last weekend (Sept. 4).
However, you should check out the Big Bambu exhibit on the roof of the Met...pretty cool structure and a nice view of Central Park/Manhattan from up there. While you're up there, grab a burger and a shake from Shake Shack located on East 86th St. between Lexington and 3rd Ave.
For another awesome treat, check out the Big Gay Ice Cream Truck. The truck is usually parked on Broadway and 17th St., but check the website since it changes sometimes. My favorite is the Monday Sundae.
I'm traveling to NYC next week. I've been scouring the archinect forums for must see contemporary architecture. I have a pretty good list going. However, most of these threads are pretty old.
Can anyone recommend any newer projects I might have missed?

I was only being half sarcastic.

Starbucks-- 80ish? Spring St in SoHo.
Not only is this one of the prettiest Starbucks I've ever seen, it is always completely filled with beautiful people.
