Interesting article about Korean direct investment in the Chicago Loop business district for smart grid feedback via automated building controls. 14 Skyscrapers will be retrofitted with smart controls monitoring everything from fan speeds to lighting power usage and communicate with the grid to dial up or down the energy delivered. Korea hopes the experiment will yield greater advancement for their own smart grid system and component manufacturing back home. Participating will be the University of Illinois.
