H&M Herald Square

As the largest H&M retail presence in the world, the Herald Square flagship is a four-story outpost featuring a 35-foot glass façade with a LCD screen, mirror and terrazzo detailing, as well as a 30-foot interior atrium. Befitting its status within H&M’s retail fleet, the “full-concept” location features cutting-edge retail technology, such as heat sensors in the fitting rooms and “try and buy” stations that enable immediate check out. The main challenge of the project was ensuring that the exterior facade and signage design was in accordance with the Landlord’s design criteria and with the site’s zoning restrictions. KPA served as Executive Architect on this location and has partnered with H&M on approximately 35 locations to date, including several flagships such as the World Trade Center and the future Hudson Yards and Empire Outlet locations.
