A modern kinder garden is placed into the center of the new quarter. With its own kitchen, spacious playing rooms on three levels, a playing patio on roof level and various open spaces the new kindergarden offers a meeting point of generations.
The Gemeinnützige Salzburger Wohnbaugesellschaft m.b.H. (GSWB) has built a generously proportioned kinder garden including a day nursery in the northeast area of the Stadtwerk Lehen. Integrated to the housing area the kinder garden faces the open area of the north-south corridor, which offers a green outer space.
The topography of the outer spaces delivers zones to be experienced in various ways. There are big steps for sitting, while ramps divide the playing areas.
The cladding is ventilated at rear and covered by slabs while the western facade is structured by horizontal rows of windows.
The kinder garden extends over three levels. The playing groups and the day nursery are east oriented. The stairways situated openly on the western exterior wall connect the floors. The vestibules to the group rooms provide space for movement and provision of services.
The ground level of the southeastern volume contains an entry hall, dining room, kitchen and staff rooms. The placement of the kinder garden in the south makes it easily accessible.
The flat roof is accessible from the kinder garden and designed as a playing space.
