Topped with a solar canopy, the innovative new Clark University Alumni & Student Engagement Center will transform the Main Street block facing iconic Jonas Clark Hall, reframing the experience. A new campus entry terrace and park will diagonally link the main campus green with University Park, providing a continuous greenway that will unify the campus and serve as a catalyst for further improvements to the Main South area.
Designed in concept to generate 50% of its estimated annual power needs from a rooftop photovoltaic array and the remaining 50% from photovoltaic canopies on the adjacent parking lot, Clark’s new building will have the potential to achieve zero-net energy performance. A 140kW rooftop array will be installed day-one with the parking canopies slated for potential future construction. Visitors will enter the glazed pavilion of the new Alumni & Student Engagement Center under a four-story portico and cantilevered roof canopy at the southern end of the building. Forward looking and high performance, this new academic center will transform the face of Clark’s campus and enhance Clark’s physical image as a higher education and environmental leader.
