ARCO Arquitectura Contemporánea was invited to participate in the Trends Pavilion at the 2012 edition of Habitat Expo. Every year 4 different architects and interior designers are selected to develop a 36 sq m installation using only the products and services of the exhibitors of the fair. For this edition the theme was the 4 elements and architects Bernardo and José Lew got: earth.
For the architects and their team earth is an element understood as something evidently natural and that is always related to the environment such as the roots of a tree. Their objective was to conceptualize in natural textures and neutral colors the feeling of being inside the earth. The pavilion presents a forest that from the outside is apparently closed, but that has a lateral entrance that leads to its center so it may be appreciated from inside.
