A design for a sun screening system for the New Inc. building in New York City based on digital fabrication processes. The concept of the screen system is inspired by the textures of indigenous baskets. The result is a surface or mesh that is weaved by two elements made of stainless steel. Different types of knots with varying in sizes respond to the specific needs of the different interior spaces. The knot system generates different depths to the overall composition, creating a layered visual effect.
The screening system was designed, iterated and optimized using Rhino and Solidworks.
