About

I am a designer with a unique, versatile skill set. I have accumulated nearly 15 years of experience in the field of architecture, approaching the discipline from myriad angles and disciplines. I have logged over seven years experience as an architectural designer and project manager, leading design teams on major projects in the commercial, healthcare, institutional, retail, and residential sectors. I have over four years experience leading all drafting, detailing, design and estimating tasks for a design/build shop in the architectural metalwork sector, and three years experience as a carpenter and fabricator, working with diverse building systems and materials. I am a registered architect in the states of New York and New Jersey, and a LEED accredited professional. I have extensive experience leading projects through from conception to closeout, including project scheduling, initial costing, schematic design, documentation/detailing, interior design, consultant coordination, code research and compliance, DOB coordination, and construction administration.

Employment

HTO Architect, New York, NY, Project Architect

Manhattan architecture firm specializing in multifamily residential, mixed-use and hospitality projects. We are the firm of choice for many developers in the New York metropolitan area due to our expertise in maximizing the potential of sites within a dense urban context. The focus is on ground-up construction, with full architectural services provided as a member of large, collaborative design and construction teams. Most projects are developer-driven, with clients including KUB Capital, Cape Advisors, DDG, and Madison Realty Capital. Frequent collaborators include FRONT, Post Office Architectes, McNamara-Salvia, GACE Consulting, Stantec, and Tocci Engineering. As Senior Project Manager, I have led the HTO effort in our role as Executive Architect on multiple projects including 150 Wooster Street, 30 Warren Street, and 99 Granite Street. Within the office I have led efforts to encourage our younger designers to improve themselves, through custom-made educational seminars, the promotion of local exhibitions and industry events, and the maintenance of firmwide shared resources.

ARGOSY DESIGNS, Brooklyn, NY, US, department head - design, drafting & estimating

For over four years I held the dual positions of lead estimator and head of drafting & design at this design/build metalwork shop. The shop engages in projects of varying scopes and sizes, from custom light fixtures and hardware to prototype furniture and light fixtures, interior and exterior glazing systems, retail displays, art and sculpture pieces, stair systems, structural awnings, pergolas and landscape features, cladding panels and collaborative millwork pieces. Key clients and collaborators include Herzog & de Meuron, Roman & WIlliams, MADE Architecture, Workshop APD, Morris Adjmi, the Morgans Hotel Group, Bergdorf Goodman, Bloomingdale’s, Town & Gardens, the Foundations Group, and Silver Lining Interiors. As lead estimator, I represent the company in all client relations activities while leading the tasks of design analysis, RFI submission and coordination, and materials and labor costing. As head of drafting/detailing, I supervise multiple draftspersons and support staff in translating the visions of architects and designers to drawings for use on the shop floor. I cooperatively lead all front end tasks such as site surveying, design development, detailing, materials and technology research, and scheduling. I also work directly with the shop floor during the fabrication and installation process as a liason, providing quality control and ensuring that designs are fabricated to specification.

Integrated Design Group, NYC, New York, NY, US, Architectural Designer / Project Manager

A full-service architecture firm rooted in the institutional and healthcare sectors, IDG has become a firm of choice for the small- to medium-sized build-out projects of local area institutions such as the Queens Public Library network , NYU Langone Medical Center and Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center. I held the dual positions of lead designer and manager on multiple projects, including the JFK High School Campus Medical Clinic and the NYU Langone Study Center. Among other challenges, these projects required extensive coordination and balancing of complex equipment specifications, end user needs, budgetary constraints and design standards. All projects involved close collaboration with the in-house interior design department, client facility managers, medical practitioners, and faculty representatives.

lowernine.org, New Orleans, LA, US, Site Captain

LowerNine.org is a non-profit group working in New Orleans’ Lower Ninth Ward, comprised of volunteer builders and coordinators. The organization has been working to restore the neighborhood after the events during and since Hurricane Katrina. They provide free construction services to residents seeking to move back in to their homes, and work to educate residents on proper building practices in order to engage them in the overall process. In my capacity as a volunteer site manager, I led the renovation of two historic homes, establishing a dialog with the homeowners and leading groups of other volunteers in demolition, rough carpentry, finish carpentry, and all related tasks. Key challenges included the reconstruction of historic double-hung windows, the stabilization of water-damaged structural systems, the reproduction of interior and exterior millwork details, and the weatherproofing of existing and new exterior envelopes.
