“From Kera to Chora” investigates the topics of hospitality and abandonment through a revitalization project in the village of Kera, Thirasia, Greece, an island located opposite the popular island of Santorini. Through visits and interactions with locals, the thesis proposes an architectural project for the abandoned village of Kera. The project addresses the aporia of hospitality by employing architectural interventions, such as the design of a new cave house, a winery, a restored canava as a drying cave, and thematic walking paths, to create sustainable and community- focused tourism with participation and experiential tourism as a focus point. These interventions aim to respect the heritage and local culture to create a model for experiential tourism that benefits both locals and visitors. The outcome is a holistic approach that integrates historical, cultural, and environmental considerations into a comprehensive plan for the revitalization of Thirasia as a whole.
