Spring 2009
Studio with Clyde Carpenter
The focal point of the semester was Louis I. Kahn. The first poster research projects allowed me to gather data and get a better understanding behind the works by Kahn. Then we were given the task of developing a housing complex for the Salk Center Institute that was to house 24 to 30 researchers, and contain a pool and pavilion. The units had to embody Kahn’s idea behind the overall Institute. The terrain played a huge part in the design and development of the complex. I designed 2 different units, which included 2 story and 3 story buildings. We were given a list of items that we had to be included in the unit including kitchen, closets, bathrooms, and more.
