Tampa, FL
The project design provides for a variety of important University of Florida exterior spaces including a Gateway, Campus Entry Courtyard, Outdoor Café Courtyard, Building Courtyards, and Building Entrance Seating Areas.
The Gateway will be situated at the intersection of University Avenue and 13th Street. Throughout the history of the University of Florida, this corner of the campus has served as an important entry to the University. Today, hundreds of pedestrians cross University Avenue or 13th Street as they enter the campus. The existing corner includes a large University of Florida sign as well as a variety of sidewalk connections. A brick planter located between the sign and the road impedes circulation and limits the functionality of the intersection as a public queuing area for crosswalks.
