I was asked about the capabilities of my school's CNC machinery. My client was interested in creating 2 small artistic wall panels, and asked for my help. After sketching out what she wanted, she asked for samples of what the machine could do. Using Grasshopper to assist in editing, I fabricated a selected surface on multiple materials to provide my client with as realistic view of the final outcome as possible. I was asked to adjust a few things and "have fun with it", before receiving the final material. Once approved the final surface resulted in a square form, yet the material given was not square. After adjusting the surface to fit the material, I was able to adjust the CNC machine to match exactly the square proportions required from the client. After the final pass, notches were added so the panels could hang flush against the wall. A clear sealant was added to give the material a glass like look. Overall, by using Grasshopper, I was able to adjust to the client's wishes without overworking the original idea.
