Selcuk Park and Regional Underground Parking Garage

YEAR 2018

SIZE 9788 m2

KEYWORDS solar energy panels

The “Selcuk Park and Regional Underground Parking Garage” is currently situated where the Selcuk Bus Terminal stands. This site is strategically located at the epicenter of historical, cultural, and public landmarks such as St. John’s Basilica, St. Jean’s Church, the Temple of Artemis, Ephesus Museum, Selcuk State Hospital, and the Turkish Aeronautical Association University.

As the new Selcuk Bus Terminal nears completion, the soon-to-be-vacant area has been envisioned to accommodate both parking and underground parking functions, in line with the strategic planning decisions.

The underground parking facility boasts a capacity of 170 vehicles per floor, summing up to an impressive total of 343 vehicles. Moreover, a sprawling 8000 m² area has been allocated for the park and square, which will feature amenities such as an open-air amphitheater, a dedicated space for street performances, a sports field, a jogging track, and a well-thought-out mix of natural and architectural landscaping elements. A standout feature of this project is the incorporation of solar panels atop the square’s eaves. These panels are not merely ornamental; they are engineered to power the square’s lighting system.

This project embodies a commitment to climate-consciousness, energy efficiency, and sustainability, mirroring the aspirations laid out in our Municipality’s Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan. Emphasis has been placed on the use of eco-friendly materials, prioritizing those that align with the Environmental Product Declaration.
