The Smart Wall House was the design for a small sustainable home in Park Ridge. A ‘smart wall’ is the primary feature of the home. The ‘smart wall’ houses the home’s HVAC equipment, is the primary structural element, and aids in the collection of rain water. A butterfly roof collects rain to the ‘smart wall,’ and empties the rainwater via a modern gargoyle into a rainwater collection system. The wall acts as both a primary conceptual and functional element of the home.
