I was a team member for the new arena for the Pittsburgh Penguins from concept design through 70% construction documentation while I was employed at HOK Sport + Venue + Event. The 18,000 seat, 600,000 square foot arena featured a glass circulation spine that faced downtown Pittsburgh. The glass feature wall gave those passing by a view into the arena in evenings and proved users a view of downtown during the day. State of the art technologies throughout the arena focused on the fan experience, and the Penguins ownership was determined to finish the players’ facilities with amenities that were the niced in the National Hockey League.
