Well I am leaving in 8 days for Paris. I think we have a place to stay. I feel like I should be more worried about things then i actually am. I was more worried about getting a tooth pulled today (AND YES I HAD GOOD REASON TO BE-FUCK THAT SUXS!) I have although, finalized my list of books to bring, and they are:

    1. Hunch-back of Notre Dame, Victor Hugo
    2. Jean-Paul Sartre, Basic Writings
    3. Food Lover's Guide to Paris, Patrica Wells
    4. Eurpoe on a Shoestring, Lonely Planet
    5. I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell, Tucker Max
    6. Atlas of Novel Tectonics, Reiser + Umemoto

Anyone have any last minute advice? I still offer an invitation to anyone that wants to try and meet while I'm over there.

A good book to get and idea of what parisians actually, the book "a year in the merde" from Stephen Clarke, other than being hilarious, will help you to understand these little crazy persons we call french. I can assure you that everything he states in his book is true...
It might be really hot in late august in Paris, be prepared to that. Otherwise I'm sure you'll enjoy it a lot.

I read that before I changed careers and was still a chef. Actually I only read the first 20 pages and couldnt go on, and for those of that have read it know what I'm talking about. And I'm not being critical, or judging other people that have read it and enjoyed it, that opening just wasnt my cup of tea.

hmm. I don't remember the first 20 pages specifically. I'm a bit worried though that if you didn't enjoy it, you might not enjoy the... more "colorful" bits of Paris. Hmm. Maybe don't get an apt in the 11eme. Or any of the double-digit arrondissements.

      Hey welcome Tom!
The wether is terrible this week, rainy and cold, so don't worry too much about the hot weather.
Drop me a mail if you want to meet.
      Good luck.
