The need for a residential design scheme that can respond and adapt to various contextual and programmatic criteria is perhaps most evident in London. More than ever, emergent urban voids increase the demand for innovative approaches to urban living; a challenge that looms even larger as building for the 2012 Olympic Village nears. To embrace the housing problems that pervade recent urban “infill” efforts as well as nearsighted Olympic residential projects, we must respond with more imaginative design schemes focusing on efficient and sustainable processes that provide pragmatic solutions adaptable to changing circumstances.
