Alterpex took on the task of capturing the existing conditions of a commercial retail and office building with a focus on documenting damaged trusses. Using advanced 3D scanning technology, Alterpex gathered detailed data on the building’s layout and structural elements. This in-depth scan provided an accurate view of the damaged trusses, crucial for assessing structural integrity and planning future repairs.
In addition to the data collection, Alterpex created a virtual 360-degree walkthrough tour, also known as a digital twin. This immersive tour lets architects, engineers, and other stakeholders explore the entire building remotely, giving them a clear view of each space and the damaged areas. With this digital twin, team members can evaluate conditions without needing constant on-site visits, making it a valuable tool for remote planning and discussions.
Finally, Alterpex developed a 3D Revit model complete with an as-built set of plans, detailing every aspect of the building. This model offers a precise reference for renovation, highlighting the damaged trusses and showing how they relate to the rest of the structure. By providing a clear, digital record of the building’s current state, Alterpex made it easier for the renovation team to plan accurately, prevent unexpected issues, and ensure that repairs are done right. This comprehensive approach supports efficient, cost-effective project management and keeps all stakeholders on the same page.

What is a Complete As-Built Set of Plans
A complete as-built set of plans is a detailed record of a building’s actual, finished state after construction. Unlike initial design drawings, which show what was planned, as-built plans capture every change, modification, and adjustment made during construction. These plans document the building exactly as it exists, from structural elements and electrical layouts to plumbing and HVAC systems.
For contractors, architects, and building owners, a complete as-built set is essential. It provides a clear, accurate reference for maintenance, future renovations, and any repairs. These plans help prevent costly mistakes by giving detailed insight into hidden elements, like wiring or pipes, that might not be visible otherwise.
