Seasonal Micro-Shops

The project began as an investigation into using the laser cutter as a generative tool, rather than a representational device. Using one single sheet of paper, each model contained a cut pattern that would then create different effects through experimenting with various connection techniques. Each model is analyzed for its performative spatial qualities which are subsequently fed back into developing a more intelligent successive model. A typical module was developed which could be both configured between one another and altered to create new circulation routes and topographical regions. These were combined to suggest a winter and a summer scenario with different programmatic zones for outdoor/indoor performance spaces, meeting rooms and food/merchandise vendor spaces. The surface of the park became an area for distributed footing and lighting system, electrical outlets and heating elements to support the performances.
