Fort Jesup Kitchen Conditions Assessment

Fort Jesup was built in 1822 to protect the United States border with Spain following the 1803 Louisiana Purchase. The Fort Jesup Kitchen served 20-25 men who were housed in adjacent quarters. Today, the kitchen is the only remaining original building at Fort Jesup and it is one of the few historic log buildings remaining in west-central Louisiana.

WBCM was engaged to perform an architectural and structural conditions assessment of the building after the client observed deterioration of the exterior faces of the logs. WBCM also conducted an on-site preservation planning workshop to assist project stakeholders in prioritizing repairs, developing work scopes, and budgeting for the work.
