This project explores the possibility of usurping the modernist rhetoric behind Mies van der Rohe’s TD Centre in Toronto. The ethos of the utilitarian geometry is replaced with an individualist logic that morphs the space based on the site’s usage. The Mies-ian grid of the plaza is transformed into a reactive field of objects that are at once sculpture, furniture, and obstacle.
