Erin Sharp-Newton. Erin & her guests: Elizabeth Sullivan , and Kimberly McMurray, AIA spoke about the past, present and future of psychiatric facilities and mental health environments known as behavioral health design. The panel covered an overview of the history of stigmatizing mental health and the interwoven history of advocacy and went through to addressing critical behavioral health design expertise, regarding safety, security, regulations & requirements. Also presented was data speaking to the current mental health data resulting from current issues, the pandemic, future unknowns, the effects of stress and isolation on mental health, and culminated in discussion on the vision for a healing future.
