Putnam Memorial State Park

Putnam Memorial State Park is one of several state parks with history closely tied to the birth of our nation. In the winter of 1778-1779, soldiers of the Continental Army under the command of General Israel Putnam camped at this site earning it the nickname “Connecticut’s Valley Forge.” Putnam Memorial was established by the state in 1887 and became a state park in 1954. The entire Park is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and became the first State archaeological preserve in 2001.

Our restoration work included a detailed archaeological reconnaissance study and historic resource evaluation, and a condition assessment for the 1893 pavilion prior to the formulation, development and implementation of final park and building restoration.
