UHS Robert B. Green Clinical Pavilion
For nearly a century, University Health System’s Robert B. Green Clinic has served the medical care needs of downtown San Antonio. The facilities were in need of repair and modernization. The board decided to replace some existing facilities with a new building, to renovate other facilities, and to add parking.
The new clinic offers primary and urgent care, preventive health and wellness services, outpatient surgery, radiology services, laboratories and diagnostics, and pharmacy services.
DHR partnered with Parsons as project manager for design and construction, representing the owner’s interests in matters of project safety, quality assurance, and interaction with various project stakeholders. The project utilized a Design Assist (Integrated Delivery) approach, where the contractor provided input to the design team through design and construction phases. DHR took part in the design team interviews with various clinics and departments and managed special testing and commissioning. As completion neared, DHR also coordinated delivery of medical equipment and scheduled moves of people, equipment and furnishings.
All of the design was produced in BIM format. Weekly BIM meetings were held to enhance constructability and value engineering. A Computerized Materials Management System was developed to integrate new MEP and life safety equipment into the existing UHS Facilities Management system.

UHS Pharmacy
Construction of the new clinic on the Robert B. Green Campus afforded opportunities to address critical needs of other associated programs and services. To house UHS Pharmacy Services, planners opted to renovate an existing structure adjacent to the new clinic. This facility supports pharmacy and patient consultation services. It was completed to coincide with the clinic opening.
Parsons and DHR teamed as the project manager for design and construction on the pharmacy renovation. We coordinated the needs of the pharmacy with the design required and provided quality assurance for design and construction.
