Pearl Brewery Full Goods Warehouse - 2013 AIA COTE Top 10 Green Project, Award

The award recognizes innovative design and creative sustainability solutions in an adaptive reuse project. I was fortunate to serve as architectural project manager and construction administrator for this conversion of a derelict abandoned warehouse into central urban destination.

Originally the holding warehouse for finished product (full goods), it retains its industrial feel while accommodating a variety of uses. Offices, restaurants, retail businesses and live-work studios line open pedestrian byways through the complex. It also serves as a backdrop to an open courtyard, home to a popular farmer’s market, a live music venue and the dock for San Antonio’s famous river taxis.

A LEED gold project, it features a 200 kw solar array with interactive public education display, water harvesting utilizing both new and salvaged vats, and sculptures and landscape features crafted from found objects in the old brewery.
