Spanning East to West along the Amazon River Basin, lie the cities of Iquitos, Manaus, and Belem, strategic ports and outposts erected by the Brazilian government to control territory. These cities are encompassed by an ephemerality of soil, of water, and of construction. Soft dirt and flooding force these cities to constantly respond and to react, created a constructed environment which is arguably impermanent and volatile. In Belem, this tissued land is prone to high flooding and is coincidentally the foundation for informal settlements and housing.
