New Orleans VA Hospital

This is a brand new facility integrated in the Mid-City area of the city of New Orleans. This hospital recognizes the necessity for Veterans to have a world class healthcare facility with 200 inpatient beds, which can serve double rooms in case of an emergency, 370 inpatient exam rooms, surgical center, and transitional living, which aided veterans through design to cope with physical and mental disabilities, eg housing adapted for amputees', woodshop and other "tallers" for veterans to adapt to their new norm. This hospital also serves as an emergency shelter in the case of another natural disaster like Katrina since it can fully operate outside the grid for one week, utilizing a 320,000 gallon rain collection water tank, and a generator that can keep the entire campus running.

In addition to this amenities the VA hospital tracked LEED silver containing sustainable features like a million gallon tank that collected the hard surfaces runoff win order to reduce dependency from the city line to run the facility chillers and other water related operational features.
