Broadway Commons is a mixed-use community building located near downtown Salem, Oregon.  The 47,000 SF building houses a coffee shop, retail space, and a free medical clinic on the ground floor.  The second and third floors are comprised of classrooms and meeting rooms to serve the community as well as Salem Alliance Church, the owner of the building.  The fourth floor has office space as well as a prayer center overlooking the city.  The project is located along Broadway Street between downtown and nearby lower-income areas.   Salem Alliance Church built the facility with the stated goal of bringing together Church, Commerce, and Community.   As part of this goal, the church wanted to give the most sustainable building possible to the people it will serve.  The  desire to achieve a high level  LEED rating stemmed from this and the idea that the building would educate the community on energy efficiency and social equity.
