APPAREIL architecture has taken up the challenge of building a living space across four floors inside a particularly narrow and deep building. This former triplex in Plateau Mont-Royal was transformed into a single-family residence, adapted to the needs of a young family. Service spaces were concentrated in the center of the residence so that the living spaces could benefit from being situated within the reach of light. To optimize the link between these different spaces, the team created an opening between the ground floor and the first floor. A friendly link is now made between the kitchen, the dining room and the living room. The huge windows that are now featured on the rear facade allow these three rooms to be bathed in sun and connected to the backyard. In terms of furniture and lighting, the team chose to do business with various local craftsmen.

La résidence ST-ANDRÉ représentait un grand défi, c’est-à-dire aménager un espace de vie sur quatre étages à l’intérieur d’un bâtiment particulièrement étroit et profond. Cet ancien triplex du Plateau-Mont-Royal s’est alors transformé en une résidence unifamiliale, parfaitement adaptée aux besoins d’une jeune famille. Les espaces de services ont été concentrés au centre de la résidence afin que les espaces de vie puissent bénéficier d’emplacements à la portée de la lumière. Pour optimiser le lien entre ces différents espaces, l’équipe a créé une ouverture entre le rez-de-chaussée et le premier étage. Un lien convivial s’opère donc désormais entre la cuisine, la salle à manger et la salle de séjour. Les immenses fenêtres qui arborent dorénavant la façade arrière permettent à ces trois pièces de profiter d’un bain-de-soleil et d’une connexion avec la cour arrière. Pour ce qui est des meubles et des éclairages, l’équipe a collaboré avec différents artisans locaux. HAMSTER pour les luminaires et LA COOP ÉTABLI pour le mobilier.
