Yixing Dongjiu South Bank Cultural Resort Planning

The project is located in Yixing, Jiangsu Province, to the west of Taihu Lake. It covers a land area of
2,553,936 square meters with total floor area of 600,000 square meters within the planned boundary lines. Following the strategy proposed by Yixing Municipal Government to develop Yixing to be an “Oriental Water City”, the planning has centered on the concept of developing the features of Yixing as an oriental water city. Among the nine featured water townships in Yixing, the project site is situated between Dragon Back Mountains and Dongjiu Lake from south to north abundant in natural resources, and between Tuanjiu and Taihu Lakes from east to west as a major hinge point in water transportation. It also has the greatest potential to be built into an international river bank resort of vigor and prosperity.

Based on the special context, we proposed the following planning guidelines:

  1. Preservation of natural environment
  2. Proper use of riverfront resources
  3. Active development of water transportation
  4. Introduction of cultural and leisure activities

Apart from the original yacht clubhouse, the overall riverbank planning not only integrated functions of ecological park, five-star resort hotel, riverfront commercial plaza, golf clubhouse and sea plane anchorage on the wharf, but also villas and upper class residential communities in phased development, giving full play to the potential of the site.
