Hohhot Xiangtai Hotel

The project is located in the city of Hohhot, the capital of the Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region. The total building area is 20,605m², divided over 17 floors. The conceptual base for the design of this project is the Mongolian culture, and the use of natural materials, like stone and wood, wants to reflect its deep roots with Nature. The historical soul of the Region was also a strong inspirational medium, with the design aiming to reinterpret its ethnical, folkloristic, and artistic values. The idea of carved walls in the reception desk area was taken from the ancient art of stone and wood carving the Mongolian people carry forward since the first nomadic Xiongnu tribes established in the area more than two thousand years ago. The traditional characteristics of the project are of course also integrated with a modern architectural language, to reflect the rapid development the Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region has been facing in the last decades.
