United Continental Building

In Chicago Business District, anchored on the Chicago River embankment, this skyscraper 50 meters was designed in a “Modern Classical” style using Portuguese Royal white granite and silver-grey glass curtain wall. The challenge to merge the temple with the skyscraper produces a new archetype: a tower with a base, a colonnade, and a temple top. The base contains the atrium in white marble. On the exterior façade, the cascading rhythm of white granite columns provides harmony and proportion in a grand style.
