drumBAR

drumBAR takes the speakeasy-style bar to the next level — 200 feet up to be exact. Perched atop the 18th floor of the Raffaello Hotel, the existing architecture of the historic building, built in 1925, provided much of the inspiration for the design. The goal was to preserve and respect the inherent historical components of the space, while adding a layer of elements that are modern, sharp and fresh.

Upon arrival, guests are welcomed into the warmly lit indoor space by walls wrapped in gold flecked wallpaper, original 14’ high arched windows, and a white marble bar where cocktails are the focus. Opposite the main bar, groups can find sanctuary in one of the dark alcoves, furnished with rich brown tufted leather banquettes, one of which offers a custom gas fireplace. The lounge area, or ‘Great Room,’ is a dramatic space east of the main bar, with 20’ high ceilings, dark wood panels, and a custom-designed antique brass light fixture.

Tucked away in the corner of the Great Room is a smaller, more intimate bar clad in a herringbone wood pattern with brass inlay and lined with bright apple green upholstered barstools, which offer a sharp modern contrast to the more traditional preserved details.

A small corridor with arched windows and a black and white checkered marble floor leads to the VIP room, which offers a private gathering space with city views in three directions. From this area, a glass and metal door provides access to the large outdoor terrace, which is lined with plush, built-in lounge seating that’s fashioned with deep brown upholstery and oversized black & white plaid pillows. Two centrally located outdoor fireplaces are surrounded by large upholstered lounge chairs and potted terracotta plants.
