Village Whiskey

The design of Village Whiskey, a 30-seat whiskey bar and burger joint in Philadelphia, draws on American turn-of-the-century social clubs and old-fashioned pubs. Tufted russet booths and marble table tops are purposefully raised to align with the dark bar stools and zinc bar top. This even line of seating and counter surface in the main bar area creates a communal environment.  Behind the bar, 100 varieties of whiskey, bourbon, rye and scotch stand next to antique mirrors and green vintage library lights. A green tin ceiling and dark ceiling fans also add to the traditional saloon atmosphere. Modern lighting fixtures with warm incandescent linear sources, and a stainless steel grill encasing the bar shelves, are incorporated into the interior to make the space feel at once classic and contemporary. The white subway tiles on the walls and the black and white mosaic floor tiles are timeless.
