Florian Idenburg, Dutch architect and co-founder of the design firm SO – IL, presented a public lecture at the Knowlton School this past month.
SO – IL is an award-winning architectural design firm based in New York City. Idenburg founded the firm with Jing Liu in 2008. One of their most notable projects is their winning entry for MoMa PS1, Pole Dance. The project was an exploration of architecture's ability to move past finite and "create sensorially charged environments." The project is designed to be conducive to ever-changing situations.
An associate professor of practice at the Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design, Idenburg has also taught studios at Columbia, held the Brown-Forman Chair in Urban Design at the University of Kentucky and has been a visiting lecturer at Princeton University. He received his Masters in Architecture from the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands.
