This past week, Daniel Barber of the University of Pennsylvania, College of Design lectured at the Austin E. Knowlton School of Architecture. Daniel is an architectural historian and as he showed here, has a particular interest in the global environmental culture and the impact that this has on the field of Architecture. The presentation centered on the trajectory of environmental awareness within the field, specifically from the post-World War II period to now. One of the key points that was made was how humans insert themselves into the dynamic between environment and nature, whether it be as the central concern, or as another variable within the complex system.
